Types of Resume Cover Letter

1. Cover Letters In Response To Advertisements

This is the most common type of cover letter. When replying to advertisements, your letter must be very precise:

• State where you saw the job advertised. If there was a reference number on the job ad, include that in your cover letter as well.
• Give the highlights of your career and a brief statement of your track record, experience and achievements to date that specifically match the job in the advertisement.

When you answer an advertisement, look for statements or words that speak directly to your skills, achievements and experience. Highlight those (by underlining for example) and then include some of the words or statements in your cover letter.

In addition, if specific details are requested, provide them. It’s always important to answer any specific questions or provide any additional details that are asked for. People often overlook these and this shows poor attention to detail. Don’t.
