5 Excellent Resume Objective Examples
As part of our
Resume Objective Help we gave you hints and tips on writing a winning resume objective or personal summary. To help you even more, here are some
real-life resume objective examples which won interviews.
Keep in mind that these particular personal summaries and objective examples were written for certain job categories and industries, and
with particular personal histories in mind. While you may be able to custom one of these objectives to suit your own needs, it is always preferable to write your own from scratch.
5 Resume Objective Examples
One point just before we begin: Some people don't like to use pronouns ('I', 'we', 'my') in their personal summary or objective.
We like them, as you'll see from our resume objective examples. If you prefer not to use them, that's fine too. Simply write your objective or summary with them in, then remove them afterwards, as in example two below.
- The first of our resume objective examples was written by a nurse looking for a senior nurse position in a larger hospital. The ad mentioned
mentoring and coaching and the ongoing need to improve patient care.
"As a fully qualified nurse with 11 years varied experience, there's much I can offer Hayward Hospital as a senior staff nurse and I'm very excited about
this vacancy. I am passionate about providing first rate patient care and won 2 innovation awards last year for process improvements I implemented
which increased the nurse:patient contact time by 12%. I already have experience of mentoring and coaching junior staff, a role to which I was
promoted on my teams' recommendation and in which I've enjoyed a number of successes. I'm confident that my passion for patient care, together
with my skills and experience will enable me to make a significant difference at your hospital."
- Our second example is that of an IT Supervisor looking for a Technical Team Leader position where the focus is on providing communication solutions.
"A Microsoft Certified IT Professional with 8 years experience, including 2 as a Technical Supervisor, the latter a promotion after only 12
months with current employer. Proven multiple skills covering many disciplines, most recently VoIP, leading a team of 12 engineers on a project to
implement this functionality across 3 sites, overcoming serious latency problems."
- Our third resume objective example is that of a school leaver looking for a job in a bank.
"I graduate from high school in June and was very excited to hear about the Customer Service Representative position you have at DEF Bank. I already
work part time at the local convenience store, where I serve on the counter and help with customer queries in person and on the phone. I've been there
3 years and have been given more responsibility than other students who have been here longer. I really enjoy meeting and dealing with the public and am
confident that I can provide the level of service your customers have come to expect."
- Our fourth resume objective example was written by a salesperson looking for new position.
"I am a confident and results-driven Sales Executive with 13 years varied experience and an excellent track record for exceeding sales targets.
Last year I reached my annual target for insurance sales after only 8 months and went on to beat the previous year's record by 26%. It's my personable
yet professional manner together with my self-drive that are the keys to my success and I believe that if you accept me into your position of
Senior Sales Executive, you won't be disappointed."
- The last of our resume objective examples was written by a teacher looking to join a larger school and take on additional responsibility.
"As a elementary teacher with over 12 years experience in a variety of roles, I'm at the point in my career where I would like to take on greater
responsibility and make a fuller contribution to the education of our young children. I'm very interested in the vacancy you have because it allows me
to meet both these objectives and work in a school that enjoys an excellent reputation among parents in this area. Already I have raised the GPA from
2 to 3 in my current class and enjoyed similar successes in my previous roles, details of which are below."
