Three Interview Thank You Letter Examples
To Make YOU Stand Out!
Before we share our
interview thank you letter examples, we'd like to tell you a short story:
Four years ago one of our friends, Mary, had a temporary teaching job. When a permanent position came up in another school, she applied for the job and got an interview, but they hired someone else.
Even though she didn't get the job, she sent everyone on the interview team, plus the school administrator, a letter, thanking them for the opportunity to apply.
Last year, when another permanent job came up, she got the job.
We're not saying the thank you letter was the only reason she got the job, but it helped to form the school's positive impression of Mary. That's why we believe interview thank you letters are very valuable.
And it's easier than you think to write an interview thank you letter, and well worth the effort. Since less than 5% of candidates send one, it's a great way to make a final, lasting impression.
Here are some interview thank you letter examples you can use to craft your own letters. Just be sure your letter relates to your experience of the company and the interview - these thank you letter examples are just guides.

Thank You Letter for Damage Control
If your interview brought up concerns about your skills or your ability to do the job, use this thank you letter example to address these issues.
Ms. Annabelle Dwyer
Human Resources Director
Augusta Construction Augusta
ME 04333
Dear Ms. Dwyer,
Thank you for taking the time to interview me for the comptroller position at Augusta Construction.
After meeting with you and the rest of the interview team, I am even more confident that I have the background and experience you're looking for.
You expressed concern about my lack of experience in the construction business. Although I have not worked as a comptroller in your industry, I gained first hand experience in construction through part-time and summer jobs during my college years. My jobs as carpenter and foreman gave me valuable perspectives that will inform my work as comptroller in your Company.
As you know, I have held comptroller positions in various industries. I have had no difficulty applying my professional skills in any business environment and have no doubt I will quickly learn what I need to know about the construction industry. I am, as they say, a quick learner.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Emily Brownstein

Tips from the Thank You Letter Examples
- Make sure you have no typos, misspellings, or grammatical errors - ask someone else to check if you're not sure
- Email or traditional letter? Try to follow the norms of the organization. But if a decision is expected in a day or two, email your thank you letter to make sure it gets there in time
- Restate your most relevant qualities
- Be personal, but not too personal
Here's one more thank you letter example which you might find useful too.
Consider also sending a job interview follow up letter if you've still not heard back from the interviewers within a few days of your interview thank you letter.
If the interviewers are still considering who to pick for the job, a second letter may make all the difference!
